Ruggero Rosfer was born in Milan, where he cultivated his artistic sensibility between high school and his studies in architecture at the Politecnico. His visual gaze—precise, poetic, and profoundly human—soon found in photography its ideal language of expression. He moved to London, embarking on an international journey that led him onto film sets, capturing icons of world cinema, and later to China, where photography became a bridge between cultures. In Beijing, a new chapter unfolded: Rosfer began collaborating with Italian journalists and Chinese fashion magazines, portraying Olympic athletes and symbols of excellence. During this period, he also forged a deep artistic partnership with Chinese artist Shaokun, exploring visual languages that merge photography and contemporary art. India marked a creative and human turning point. Traveling across social castes, Rosfer documented the country’s contrasts and aspirations through his lens. From these encounters emerged Free to Dream—an intense photographic project centered on the themes of freedom and dreams, with families, both noble and marginalized, as its silent protagonists. Subsequent journeys took him to Istanbul, Prague, and back across Europe, where he continued to successfully pursue both photography and film direction, including the acclaimed music video for The Rumpled. He has signed impactful social campaigns and collaborated with major fashion and beauty brands, always guided by a deep sense of visual identity, ethics, and elegance. A notable example is the campaign for Pasta Felicia, whose commitment to sustainability and waste reduction perfectly mirrors Rosfer’s own philosophy. Among his most emblematic works are campaigns against gender-based violence, collaborations with international human rights organizations, and artistic projects inspired by rebirth, memory, and nature. In South Africa, he created two of his most profound works—Dancing with Nature and Stop Red Poaching—dedicated to wildlife conservation and, in particular, to elephants: powerful symbols of strength and fragility. He was also present in Haiti, where he produced a fashion reportage with designer Stella Jean for Vogue—one of his most moving human experiences. Rosfer continues to move effortlessly between different worlds: fashion and activism, beauty and commitment, art and communication. His gaze remains unmistakable—capable of portraying humanity with respect, delicacy, and intensity.
